My Thoughts
I attended this film viewing with a friend of mine. I knew it was going to be ‘artsy’ more than erotic. Definitely not pornographic in a typical way. I was right on that. The video and films represented different people’s take on sexuality and sexual expression. Some of it was accessible and some of it not so much. There were two pieces by a local filmmaker that I especially liked that featured video self shot when she was a preteen. It showed her dancing around with her friends, trying on clothes and vamping it up for the camera. I totally related to the time of life, being on the cusp of womanhood and playing with sexuality but not knowing what it means. It was a poignant piece even though this woman’s coming of age was ten years after mine.
