Halloween
I love Halloween. I take it very seriously and for the most part I like to go with scary, morbid costumes. Sexy cops and milkmaids are not my thing. Sure, I once went as a Bettie Page inspired jungle girl, but it was a last minute thing and I just grabbed what was in my closet.
Last year I dressed up three times. On the Thursday I was a zombie as part of a burlesque performance for a university party that had hired me. On the Friday I performed with my Team Burlesque friends and did a version of this number, but to a different song for a live set by The Unsettlers. After my performance I wore my white tiger outfit. I loved it! It was like I was in pyjamas.

Then for Halloween proper I had a make-up artist friend create a look that was inspired by the way people’s mouths and eyes were sewn shut after they were dead. I wanted to be able to see other people’s costumes so she came up with the idea of my eyes being sewn shut and then ripped open. I am told it was quite horrifying in person.

Tonight I am doing a cameo of sorts for a Bad Uncle show (Quai des Brumes - corner Mont Royal & St-Denis - 22h). I have performed with this band quite a few times this year doing what I like to call macabre burlesque. I will be doing something new tonight to one of the introductions to their songs. I will have my camera with me and I promise to take photos.
