I Love TikTok
Since day 1 of documenting and sharing my sexy shenanigans online, I’ve been exploring the ways I can use various social networking platforms to reach new fans. My latest attempt is on TikTok.
At first, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do on the platform. I decided to make simple videos focusing on my natural salt and pepper hair would let me get comfortable with the app. I wasn’t a consistent uploader but I did start following people and learned as much as I could from that experience as well as some articles about the platform.
I learned that users found new content via an algorithm that analyzes their likes and dislikes and attempted to present them on their For You Page (#fyp) content they would enjoy. Content creators did well when they hyper-focused on one niche. Repetition is popular and rewarded by the algorithm. So is responding to a video by making new content from it.
This autumn I decided to do some talking head style content on topics connected to my work as an adult entertainer. I was confident I could hold sharing my experiences in nonmonogamy, solo polyamory, and my history in the XXX business. One of my videos took off. I wouldn’t say it went viral but it did get a lot of views and following that I was able to get to 1K in followers which allowed me to go live.
This I discovered is my sweet spot on the app. I could do something similar to what I do when I’m hanging out in my public cam room— be myself and use this as a traffic generator.* So, instead of enticing people to take me for a private XXX show, I could focus on entertaining people in a PG13 way and discretely directing them to my adult platforms if they wanted more.
My aim with these shows though is not just as a traffic tactic. Like all of my online work, I want to be an example of what a sexually experienced, educated, and empowered woman can look like. Not just when she is in her 20s but also when she is in her 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond.
I cam mainly at therealseska.cammodels.com which is run by Streamate. They have their own quality traffic so I only promote my shows there to notify fans of my schedule. However, for this site and my fansites, I need to find my own traffic. This has become more and more difficult. Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit are OK sources of traffic but TikTok has been terrific. It also has been a good option for connecting with other adult creators.
That's something I will write about more in my next entry. ;-)
