I'm Getting Eye Surgery

I'm getting cataract surgery in April. Well, kind of. I'm very near-sighted (-8) but also need reading glasses. I’m very tired of wearing my glasses, switching glasses, and not being able to do certain physical activities (swimming in particular but also outdoor walks in the rain, snow, and cold). So late last year I decided I would see about corrective laser eye surgery. In January I went to see an ophthalmologist to see if I was a candidate for laser surgery.

I discovered that because I'm 52 it is quite likely that in a few years I will develop cataracts and will need new lenses. It’s best I get new lenses now.

First, though I had to see a neurological ophthalmologist because my right eyelid has been sagging and the pupil is smaller that the left. I needed to rule out whether I had a stroke, nerve damage, or an autoimmune condition. The tests took a few weeks and I was given the all-clear.

My surgery is scheduled for April 11th and I will be wearing my glasses until then as contact lenses can change the shape of the eyeball. While I will be camming on Jerkmate and Chaturbate between now and then I’m not sure if I will be making new videos. I thought I’d shoot one for sure as my last official video with my glasses.
