The Journey of The Change and Recovery

The Journey of The Change and Recovery

It’s been a hot minute since I last blogged. Did you miss me? I sure missed writing for you, sharing my sexual adventures with you.

Since my cancer diagnosis, I was understandably focused on my health. Between that and caring for my mother who has stage 4 lung cancer, I didn’t have the energy left for anything else.

Thankfully, I had loads of content backed up so my subscribers always had something to enjoy.

When I first got my diagnosis I was obviously upset but on top of the to-be-expected fears and concerns, I was frustrated that all the time and hard work I put into camming and creating content in 2021 would have to be paused for a few weeks. Then these weeks turned into months as my surgery was rescheduled twice because Covid-19 patients were overwhelming our healthcare system and delaying cancer surgeries.

I had a bit of money saved to get me through a couple of months off but not the over 4 months I was away. It was a very stressful time and I’m so relieved to be through it. I’m so grateful for my fellow sex workers and the two subscribers who reached out to offer me a bit of money to tide me over. It really made a difference.

Now I’m 6 weeks post-surgery and feeling quite good. Definitely better than I felt for all of 2021. I didn’t realize I was in so much pain until it was gone. The first few weeks of recovery had their own pain with lots of pressure and new sensations in my abdomen. It’s been an adjustment period. With organs removed my insides are figuring out how to work in their new arrangement and I’m learning to read my body’s signals.

That might be TMI, but I think it’s important I share the realities of having a total hysterectomy (removal of the uterus and cervix) with salpingo-oophorectomy (that’s the removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes). It’s the second most common surgery women have after a Cesarean section. If you have sex with women it’s quite possible you will encounter someone like me and the information can help you appreciate how it impacts your body and sense of feminity.

I’m glad I have a healthy sense of self-curiosity because this surgery as part of both a cancer journey and an ageing journey has a lot to teach me about myself and womanhood. Some of that shows up in my everyday moments and some in my sexy moments. Some of my content may change because of these body changes. It might take me longer to return to certain sexual acts than others. Some new ones might be part of my xxx repertoire and some might disappear.

I’m staying open to the changes. Resistance is futile. I choose to dwell in the possibilities. I see my early post-menopause time of life as an opportunity to explore and discover what it is to be me as I am now.

I hope you will join me.
