What's Up With The Wigs?

In a nutshell, it’s an expression of my Seska-ness. Let me explain. I began my porn career with a certain hairdo and had a version of it for two decades. In 2016 I was living a less public life and decided I needed a change. I liked the idea that my porn would exist in a bit of a time bubble like the modeling of Bettie Page who was rarely photographed after the late 1950s. I was often compared to her so this felt rather apropos. My first cut was a bit of a Natalie Imbruglia Torn shag and then later I got a buzzcut. I wanted to stop dyeing my greys which I’ve had since I was in my mid-twenties. It felt right to start fresh, grow it out, and disappear a little bit in the process. I needed me for me time. Grey hair is having a moment on Instagram with the #grombre movement and I’m pleased to be a part of it. While I love love love the way I look with short grey hair, it doesn’t feel “Seska” to me. I think this is because for me my Seska-ness is not only about porn, but about burlesque. After I cut off my hair, I wore wigs for my burlesque performances. It saved me so much time. It also kept my natural hair healthy compared to what heat styling did to it when it was long. I had some custom wigs made for my retro comedic performances that needed a 1950s housewife look and 1960s bouffants and beehives for my more vavavoom acts. It turns out I LOVED wearing wigs. They allowed me to change up my look on a whim, tap into different sides of my personality and artistry. I discovered playfulness for my adulthood. As I began contemplating a return to porn, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to present myself. Thanks to hypothyroidism, perimenopause and the medications I take for both I’ve gained twenty or so pounds since I was last photographed nude. I feel very good in my skin and very sexy. I’m not going to mess with that. Even if I wanted to, I don’t have the patience or skill to edit photos. My face and body won’t be altered beyond a basic filter to color balance an image. But the hair?  Well, I’ve decided to keep using wigs to express myself in my next porn chapter. I’ve always enjoyed the preparation that goes on before a shoot or performance. I’m not someone with a lot of spontaneous desire. I need a build-up of cues and sexy triggers to get in the mood. Often that involves a sensual bath, moisturizing my skin with body oil, and applying glitter (if I’m doing burlesque). When I’ve done those things, I’m turned on and ready to show off. Putting on a beautiful wig also does this for me. So, that’s what up with the wigs.
